- AMN has voiced out at the Parliament sitting, on April 27, a statement invoking infringements and abuses being admitted so far in the election campaign. AMN is condemning particularly the CEC disposal with regard to the self-suspension from the offices of the candidates with public duties (including Government officials, the leadership of the central public authorities, rayonal presidents and deputy presidents, mayors and deputy mayors). The Electoral code is not providing an exhaustive list of public servants who must suspend themselves from the offices, but states, art. 13 line (3), that “the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who, on the ground of their duties, have no right to be parties or other socio-political organisations members, and top-rank officials of those nomination or election is regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova (except those who are in the public offices, other than administrative offices), from the point of their registration as electoral contestants are to self-suspend from their offices”. In the mentioned statement, the AMN is invoking also the CEC decisions drawbacks that allowed other electoral bodies to apply at their discretion the regulation with regard to the start of the contestants registration procedure.
