The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) has appealed on election results for the Chisinau mayor office. The appeal reasons are not known. Opposition parties have qualified dangerous the PCRM intention. By the means of a statement, at the Parliament plenary sitting, the Our Moldova Alliance has pointed that attempts to invalidate the election results in Chisinau are “aberrant as PCRM candidates have particularly got the support of central and local authorities, and PCRM is responsible for the electoral campaign nature”.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has approved the schedule for the first sittings of rayonal and municipal councils. These will start on 22 June in the North of the country and will last until 29 June. In Chisinau, the first sitting of the newly elected municipal council is set for 28 June 2007.
Several parties are negotiating governing coalitions at rayonal and local level. In negotiations are participating AMN, PPCD, PSL, PSDM, PDSM, PPR, and UCM. So far, the Liberal Party (LP)are not taking part in these negotiations. LP leaders are saying that they will participate as soon as the elections results in Chisinau are validated. However, they have excluded from the very start a possible coalition with PCRM, as well as with “exponents of the communist nomenclature acting now in other political forces”.
