The Governor of Gagauzia, Mikhail Formuzal, considers that the central Government refusal to allocate needed 1.2 millions MDL for the organization of elections of the Popular Assembly of Gagauzia (PAG) is a mistake and a prove of the lack of respect towards deputies and the people of the autonomy, even so more that previously the central Government qualified PAG as efficient and productive. During a press-conference Mikhail Formuzal criticized the recent decision of PAG to allocate 600 thousand MDL from the reserve Fund of Gagauzia for elections organization as this sum represents almost all money of the mentioned Fund. However Formusal’s declaration is contrary to the provisions of the Article 28 of the local Law on elections to the People’s Assembly (Halk Toplusu):“Funds for CEC operations shall be provided from the regional budget”.
Speaking about the elections scheduled for March 16, Formusal assured the journalists that they would be an example of democratic elections, organized without the use of any administrative resources. According to him in the eventuality that the new composition of the PAG will be similar to that existing nowadays, in opposition to the executive power of the region, it will last no more than one year. Governor Formusal foretold that the Party of Communist would suffer a defeat in the upcoming elections because its candidates lack honesty and cheat voters. (accordding to Info-Prim Neo and INFOTAG)
