• Seventeen members of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were elected at the March 30 runoff vote:
  • 9 Independent Candidates (IC);
  • 7 representatives of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM);
  • 1 representative of the Ravnopravye Movement (RM).

  So, the mandates were finally distributed as follows:

  • IC — 21;
  • PCRM — 10;
  • Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) — 2;
  • RM — 2.

  Prior to the elections, the PCRM has formed a pre-election coalition with a number of independent candidates, and they created the 34-member Bloc for a Flourishing Gagauzia into a Renewed Moldova (BFGRM). On the other hand, 21 candidates have declared themselves adepts of the United Gagauzia Movement (UGM). They are representatives of the Ravnopravye Movement and the Republican People’s Party (RPP). Another group of candidates is seemingly affiliated to Comrat Mayor Nicolai Dudoglo. Following the runoff vote, 3 elected independent candidates represent the BFGRM, 6 the UGM and another 6 are seemingly affiliated to Nicolai Dudoglo.

  Finally, the results of the elections regarded in the light of affiliations are the following:

  • BFGRM — 13;
  • UGM — 8;
  • Unaffiliated ICs — 6;
  • ICs affiliated to Dudoglo — 6;
  • DPM — 2.
